Royal Princess named Charlotte

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have named their daughter Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.

She will be known as Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, Kensington Palace have announced.

Elizabeth is the name of the baby’s great-grandmother, Elizabeth II, Queen of England. Diana is the name of the baby’s late grandmother, Diana (better known as Lady Di), the Duke’s mother, who died in a car crash in Paris in 1997.

It was feared that the Queen could be greatly indisposed if the baby was given Diana as her first name (as relations were tense between the Queen and her ex-daughter in law) but coming third after the Queen’s own name, the name Diana will probably not cause any problem.
