The pudĂºs are two subspecies of South American deer, and are the world’s smallest deer. The name comes from the language of the indigenous Mapuche people of southern Chile. There is the northern pudĂº from Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, and the southern pudĂº from southern Chile and southwestern Argentina.

PudĂºs range in size from 32 to 44 centimeters tall, and up to 85 centimeters  long. As of 2009, both species are classified as endangered.
